Hino para as Pequenas Vitórias

abril 20th, 2012

Em uma palavra: Maslow. Figure it out.

BiGod 20, “On The Run (Album Version)”

Trust me or deliver me
You know I’m on the run
Face to face we sit here now
This isn’t all the fun.
Take your eyes away from me
You know I’m apathetic
Put me wise on desperation
Take the blame from me.

Sometimes I don’t believe in my victory
Over tyranny, oh no.
And now I’m leaving.

Gimme commandos
You are immortal
I am the one who’s on hire.
Too many reasons,
Thousand reasons for demanding termination soon.
Burning desire, burning like fire
Towing me out of disaster.
But this is the realm of tormentors.

Sometimes I don’t believe in my victory
Over tyranny, oh no.
And now I’m leaving.

Run away
Release the body.

Sometimes I don’t believe in my victory
Over tyranny
On the run

“- I was sure Sweden is the leader, but Wikipedia tells it’s Finland”

Logo, vamos prosseguir no método empírico:

One time didn’t do it
Two times didn’t feel quite right
I didn’t know where I was going
I just knew that I would be alright

I woke up in a druken haze
The sun shone through my window pane
I said that I’d never do it again
What kind of fool do you think I am?

It happens
It always seems to happen
Morning night and day
I just want some action
Give me satisfaction
Send me to my fate
Morning night and day

I had a good time late last night
I didn’t think it would ever end
I walked home in a broad day light
Couldn’t get a cab at half past five

One drink wouldn’t do it
Two drinks are far too much
I didn’t know what I was doing
I hit the floor in a pile of dust

It happens
It always seems to happen
Morning night and day
I just want some action
Give me satisfaction
Send me to my fate
Morning night and day

So if you think that it won’t get you
Well think again friend ’cause it’s not true
In my case, it was not my fault
Other people made that call
One time didn’t do it
Two times didn’t feel quite right

It happens
It always seems to happen
No matter what I say
Morning night and day
I just want some action
Need some satisfaction
Before it gets too late
Send me to my fate
Morning night and day

Themes in the Odyssey

março 14th, 2012

There is a strong theme of homecoming (nostos) in the Odyssey, because Odysseus is on a journey home after the Trojan war has finally ended.

The theme of temptation as a psychological peril is portrayed by the sirens who lure sailors to their deaths by seduction. They represent the ideal audience—they sing about the most glorious moment of your life, thus tempting you to stay the hero or warrior they are portraying you as. Your own weakness makes you vulnerable; your greatest weakness comes from inside you.

Another significant theme is that of disguise, in the case of the gods; they disguise themselves so that they can interact with mortals. Athena in particular assumes many disguises including a shepherd, a girl, Telemachus, and Mentor. Odysseus is also able to disguise his identity, though not physically, by telling Polyphemus his name is ‘Nobody’ so that he will not be identified as the one who blinded the Cyclops. He also disguises himself as a beggar when he returns to Ithaca to protect himself from being killed by the Suitors.

Hospitality (xenia) is also a recurring theme as fundamental as the heroic code in the Odyssey. During that time, beggars or travelers often knocked on a stranger’s door in hopes of procuring a place to stay. There are specific steps for proper hospitality beginning with the feeding of the guest, which is of utmost importance since food is rare at that time and beggars beg for food, not money. Before the food is given, a bath is offered to the stranger, done by a woman or a servant—often different depending on the status of the visitor. After the food is given, the beggar is asked who he is and where he is from and stories are exchanged. Next, they are offered a bed to sleep on and it is understood that that they can stay overnight and at the most another night. When the beggar is leaving, there is an exchange of gifts, if the beggar does not have a gift to give, they will still be given one.

Finally, identity and exile are also themes present in the poem.

Pensar no Agora, sabe?

Aleksey,

I liked your email, so I’m sticking to a more personal note. If you
want to get just the work facts, there will be a section to cut from
this email.

I’m in Rio. Autumn is coming. I’ve came from a City where seasons are
mostly unnoticed, so the weather gets more gentle, and it looks a good
thing. This stage in my personal life is actually part III of the
so-called "Joselito Project", a small-scale experiment in my own life
since my divorce: I’m sticking to get outside my confort zone and
build experiences on my own.

Part I was nicknamed "No reasonable offer will be refused", where I
let my customers bring me and deal with their problems directly, and
brought me interesting insights for the next parts.

Part II was the moving itself. It involved some planning, lots of
delegation, and mostly some tough love. In particular, recucing my
scope of concern.

What is the logic behind that?

Thanks for asking. Now thats an interesting thing. I’ve been reading
Covey’s "The 7 Habits of Intelligent People", mostly between flights
and on my Kindle. It does a very interesting definition of
Proactivity, from a Geometrical Standpoint:

Pick a huge, gray circle. We call it your "Circle of Concern". The
gray area – and picture yourself at the center of its radius – means
everything which directly affects you. Could be your community,
family, friends, personal relationships, environment, anything which
you need to consider when you place your life into a landscape.
Now, within your gray circle, picture a smaller, black one. Its the
"Circle of Influence". Its those aspects which concern you, but you
can directly intervene.

Most people want to get and expand on the Circle of Influence. Me, I
just opted to reduce my circle of concern. So far, its working.

OTOH, there are huge things happening in Part III. I wish to
anticipate, but I’m awaiting some feedback to something which fits
nicely in the plan, although *NOT* originally anticipated.

But thats the beauty in life. Truth is: There is no such thing as
luck. There are always opportunities to leverage and new opportunities
to create. Lucky persons just manage this way.

As for me? My joke is that my family motto will be something like I
often say: "I do force on my own luck". But we never know how lucky we
are in a given moment, so there is actually no concern in abusing it
;)

Kula Shaker, “Hollow Man”:

I can only speak the words as quickly as they’re coming now believe me,
Looking down upon the bed suspended by a silver thread I’m breathing.
From the feeling that you’ve felt this before.
It’s a long load, long lonely road.
It’s a long road, long journey home.

Trying to see poetry within the shifting imagery of meaning
Well if you’re feeling hollow man
Just throw the stone and shatter your reflection…with questions.
Well if you’re trying as hard as you can
To see where you fit in this plan
IT’s a long road, long lonely road.
It’s a long road, long lonely road.

It takes time to find the plave you love
It takes time to find the plave you love

Well if you’ve got to be sure in that feeling you’ve got to take time.
It takes time to find the place you love,

Oh it’s a long road…long journey home.

Dave Lee Roth sobre a Calma

fevereiro 12th, 2012

I journeyed to the North
to hear what the preacher said.
He said, “Your arms too short to box with God.
Learn these words instead.”

Gold tooth reflecting.
My advice is free.
There’s a trick to Christian values
and it’s compulsory.

Stay frosty.
That’s what the preacher man said.
Stay frosty.
His words still racket in my head.

Can’t control your future,
can’t control your friends
in a world without end.

Stay frosty.
Hey yeah!
Stay frosty now.
Alright!
Woo!

Uh,uh,uh…(repeat)

And I traveled to the South.
The ancient rabbi appeared to me,
voice heavy with the sands of time,
he made me see:

"Same as Kabbalah Dave, but for you it’s free.”
God guides us on our journey
but careful with those feet.

Stay frosty
in a world without end.
Stay frosty
like the ancient immortal said.

Don’t want ‘em to get your goat?
Don’t show ‘em where it’s hid.
And that’s just what I did.

Stay Frosty!
(Woo look out!)
Stay Frosty now!
(Use my hand I won’t look)
Uh oh!

Uh,uh,uh…(repeat)

I journeyed to the East
and I struggled to stay afloat.
A solitary Buddhist monk
threw me a rope.

Looked me in the eye
said, "Don’t make me say this twice:
you want to be a monk?
you gotta cook a lot of rice.”

Stay frosty
in a world without end.
Stay frosty.
Work hard at this my friend.

Look beyond the kung-fu fighting.
God is love
but get it in writing.

Stay frosty.
Stay frosty now.

(solo 1)

I wandered out west
to the California coast
where the folks who know about frostiness,
stay frostiest the most.

My brand new landlord
proposed me a toast:
my "West Coast Host"

Stay frosty.
Chant it like a mantra…
Stay frosty.
and there’s nothin’ you can’t handle.

Far and wide,
far as you ramble,
trust in Allah
but tie up your camel.

Stay frosty.

uu uu uu
uu uu uu…

cuantas cosas mas puedo guardar?
cuantas cosas puedo atesorar?

cuantas cosas mas me puedo llevar?
